Research Assistant Positions
We typically review new applications twice a year: once in early November for positions starting in January, and once in mid-April for positions starting in summer or fall. Primary selection criteria for this team are interest in and commitment to the lab's research, performance in psychology courses, GPA, and an in-person interview with a graduate student. Research assistants in our lab:
  • Run studies with introductory psychology students in our lab in the psychology building.
  • Run studies off-campus at clinics and hospitals (as needed).
  • Attend weekly meetings with Dr. Sweeny and her graduate students to discuss lab issues, research, and graduate school and career options.
  • Pilot test procedures and measures.
  • Help us brainstorm new studies or changes to ongoing studies.
If you’re interested in applying to our lab, click on the button below. It will take you to a Google Form that will be submitted directly to Dr. Sweeny. NOTE: We only download applications twice a year, so email Dr. Sweeny if you have more immediate questions or concerns.

Potential Graduate Students
Kate Sweeny is unsure whether she will accept a new student to join the doctoral program in her lab for Fall 2021. To inquire about the social/personality psychology PhD program at UCR or to express your interest in applying for graduate study in the Life Events Lab, email ksweeny@ucr.edu with a brief summary of your interests and experience.
